Let’s face it, although I look forward to going on holiday every single year, I’ll be the first to admit that at times, I do find myself becoming slightly bored. There’s only so much sunshine I can sit in, and only so many laps of the pool I can complete before I find myself feeling bored and struggling for things to do. Like most other typical 25 year old women, I find myself feeling restless at times, and struggling to find activities and pastimes to keep my mind sharp, especially whilst on holiday. I’m not complaining, I work hard and enjoy my holidays, but I do sometimes struggle to find things to occupy my time and keep me entertained. I’ve been on holidays to the other side of the world, and I’ve been on holidays in my home country, and every time I’ve been away I’ve had to actively search for things to do to keep me busy, especially in the evening. If you’re like me and need mental stimulation as you find it hard to sit still for prolonged periods of time, here are a few fun and enjoyable holiday pastimes that have kept me entertained for hours upon hours during my holidays.
Quizzes are often extremely enjoyable, especially when there are great prizes on the line. The great thing about quizzes is that pretty much any holiday resort you visit will hold some sort of quiz or the other. Pub quizzes for instance, have been hugely popular for decades upon decades, in countries all over the world. I find that quizzes bring out my competitive side, but they also keep my mind sharp and me entertained in general. I’ve had some fantastic holidays with friends and family members in which we sat around at the bar, drank far too much wine, ate far too many nuts, and even managed to win a few prizes on the odd occasion. If you’re struggling for ideas of what to do in an evening, why not venture down to the bar of your resort or hotel, and see when their next quiz night will be.
I absolutely adore bingo, and I’m not ashamed to admit it either. Ok, it has a bit of a reputation for being enjoyed by overzealous and rowdy participants, with an average age of 75, but to be honest, the company I’ve found myself surround by, both young and old, have been nothing but polite, friendly, and thoroughly entertaining. Bingo can be quite addictive, especially when you only have one or two numbers left to cross of your card, which is why I find it so enjoyable. I’ve won many prizes from playing bingo, both on holiday and at home, and would recommend it to absolutely anybody.
Even if you happen to be staying all-inclusive, I would still recommend dining out whilst on holiday at least a couple of nights, just for a change of pace and scenery if nothing else. Dining out gives you, your partner, your friends, your family, and everybody else for that matter, the chance to enjoy delicious food and drink in intimate surroundings, whilst being waited on hand and foot. I love dining out on holiday and have had some of the most memorable dishes of my life whilst abroad, so why not give it a go?
